Union Health Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda lays foundation stone of ICMR Centre for High Altitude Medicine and Public Health Research at Keylong
The Union Health Minister laid the foundation stone of the ICMR Centre for High Altitude Medicine and Public Health Research at Keylong, Himachal Pradesh. Built upon an ICMR field station established nearly a decade ago, the new permanent and year-round institution aims to build scientific evidence on health challenges in extreme-altitude environments. The facility is a collaborative effort involving ICMR, the Armed Forces Medical Services, and AIIMS Bilaspur. Its mandate covers high-altitude physiology, acclimatisation, maternal and newborn health, child nutrition, and disease patterns affecting Himalayan communities and deployed soldiers. Additionally, the research will explore emerging technologies such as drone-enabled medicine delivery, digital health, and artificial intelligence to enhance healthcare access in remote regions.
