Opening of Space Sector to Private Players Has Helped Reduce Brain Drain, Created New Opportunities for Young Talent: Dr Jitendra Singh
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh stated that opening India's space sector to private players and startups (such as Skyroot) has created new opportunities for young talent domestically and helped reduce brain drain. Speaking at the NaMo Book Fest in Varanasi, he noted that India's space economy has reached approximately USD 9 billion and could potentially expand to USD 45–46 billion in the next 8–10 years. The Minister highlighted that space applications now extend beyond rockets and missions into infrastructure planning, project monitoring, disaster management, and aiding neighbouring countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka. Furthermore, he outlined broader scientific developments across various domains including the Deep Ocean Mission, Quantum Mission, biotechnology, nuclear energy capacity targets, and the Anusandhan National Research Foundation.
