Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 : MoPR and DDWS Take Cleanliness and Waste Management Message to the Panchayats

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj, in collaboration with the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, observed Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026 from 17th September to 2nd October 2026 under the theme “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag; Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat”. The campaign mobilized Panchayati Raj Institutions and Rural Local Bodies around focus areas such as the transformation of Cleanliness Target Units, Swachh Paathshala, SafaiMitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivir, Jan Bhagidari, and Swachhata se Samriddhi. Special Gram Sabhas held on 2nd October 2026 raised awareness about the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, alongside plantation drives under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’.
