From Addiction To Independence

This Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment release highlights the rehabilitation journey of an individual from Thoubal, Manipur, who overcame alcohol dependence through the Outreach and Drop In Centre (ODIC) in Bishnupur district. The beneficiary received a comprehensive package of support including home detoxification, medical assistance, psychological and family counselling, behavioural rehabilitation, and vocational guidance over a three-month period. Following the structured intervention, he successfully recovered, adopted a disciplined lifestyle, and secured employment as a salesman in Kakching Bazar, demonstrating the effectiveness of accessible rehabilitation services in fostering social and economic reintegration.
