PRESIDENT OF INDIA GRACES THE FIRST CONVOCATION OF AIIMS BILASPUR

The President of India graced the first convocation of AIIMS Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh on October 6, 2026. Addressing the graduating students, the President emphasized that the primary objective of the medical profession should be serving humanity with empathy and compassion alongside professional skills. She noted that AIIMS Bilaspur has a special responsibility to provide quality tertiary healthcare to remote and hilly areas by leveraging telemedicine, specialist consultations, and modern technology. Highlighting the financial burdens of serious illnesses on common citizens, the President mentioned the Government of India's Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, which provides health insurance cover of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year.
