Union Minister of Jal Shakti Leads Special Gram Sabha Observance on Swachh Bharat Diwas 2026

On Swachh Bharat Diwas (2 October 2026), the Union Minister of Jal Shakti led a Special Gram Sabha at Majigam village in Navsari District, Gujarat, as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026 campaign. Special Gram Sabhas were organized across rural India to review sanitation, local waste management efforts, and achievements of SHS 2026. Discussions focused on the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, and Swachh Seva Aankalan (a Gram Panchayat level annual digital self-assessment framework). Senior Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) officials participated in similar sabhas and activities across various States and Union Territories. Events also included plantation drives under 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam', felicitation of sanitation workers, and the administration of the Swachhata pledge.
