Historic First for Jammu & Kashmir (UT): Mining Development Begins with Successful Auction of Two Mineral Blocks

For the first time, two mineral blocks in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir have been successfully auctioned under the Central Government’s mineral auction process through the Ministry of Mines. The blocks comprise the Koot–Kapran Limestone Block and the Wantrag Limestone Block, both located in the Anantnag district. The auction is intended to initiate organised mineral development, encourage systematic exploration, catalyze new investments, and generate direct and indirect employment opportunities while strengthening the local economy of the Union Territory.
