Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Organises National Workshop to Strengthen Implementation of PC&PNDT Act

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare organized a national workshop in the national capital to strengthen the implementation of the Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC&PNDT) Act, 1994. The event brought together representatives from all 36 States and Union Territories, alongside officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs' Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C). Discussions focused on regulatory compliance, digital governance, addressing online advertisements and content related to sex selection under Section 22 of the Act, standardizing State/UT portals, and sharing best practices. Officials noted that the national Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) improved from 898 females per 1,000 males in 2014–16 to 918 females per 1,000 males in 2022–24.
