UPSC Centenary Celebrations ‘Manthan’ Focus on Future-Ready Civil Services, Innovation and Constitutional Values
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) commenced its two-day centenary celebrations titled 'Manthan' at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, marking 100 years since the constitution of the first Public Service Commission in India on 1 October 1926. The event featured deliberations on future-ready civil services, constitutional values, and administrative innovations. UPSC Chairman Dr. Ajay Kumar outlined a vision based on trust, transparency, and technology, highlighting the Commission's role in handling around 250 recruitment processes annually and implementing technological reforms such as AI-based facial authentication, the Universal Registration Number, and digital e-admit cards. Panel discussions focused on the role of civil services in 'Viksit Bharat', breaking bureaucratic silos, and empowering grassroots administration. The sessions also underscored the constitutional mandate of Public Service Commissions under Part XIV of the Constitution (Articles 315 to 323).
