Union Minister for Education Shri Pralhad Joshi launched the six-month Certificate (Bridge) Course in Primary Teacher Education in New Delhi. Tailored for in-service primary school teachers holding a B.Ed. degree, the course serves as a certification pathway to teach at the primary level (Classes I-V). Implemented through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) and designed according to the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) framework, the ODL-mode programme comprises six theory courses and a school-based practicum. It follows a Supreme Court judgment in Devesh Sharma Vs. Union of India and Ors. and is intended for protected in-service primary teachers appointed between June 28, 2018, and August 11, 2023.
