Prime Minister meets with the President of South Africa on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met the President of the Republic of South Africa, H.E. Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa, on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on 13th September 2026. The leaders reviewed cooperation and strategic partnership areas, highlighting shared historical struggles, cultural affinities, economic ties, and people-to-people connections. They discussed global issues, agreed to maintain coordination in multilateral fora, and addressed the translocation of cheetahs from South Africa to India, prompting an invitation for South Africa to consider joining the International Big Cat Alliance.
