Government Strengthens Transparency and Timely Delivery of Scholarships for Scheduled Caste Students

The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment has strengthened the delivery, monitoring, and accountability framework for the Centrally Sponsored Schemes of Post-Matric and Pre-Matric Scholarships for Scheduled Castes and Others. Implemented through State Governments and Union Territory Administrations, the open-ended and demand-driven schemes utilize Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts to transfer the Central share directly to eligible students. The release of the Central share is linked to States and UTs transmitting data regarding their respective share payments on the National Scholarship Portal. Furthermore, transparency and accountability are reinforced through web-based monitoring, periodic reviews at national, regional, and state levels, field visits, and National conferences or Chintan Shivirs.
