National Zoological Park Organises Sunday Bird, Butterfly and Dragonfly Walks to Promote Science and Biodiversity Conservation among Citizens
The National Zoological Park in New Delhi organized the 13th Sunday Bird Walk and the 3rd Butterfly and Dragonfly Walk to promote public participation in biodiversity monitoring, citizen science, and wildlife conservation awareness. Conducted under expert guidance, the events involved participants documenting multiple species of birds, butterflies, dragonflies, and damselflies. A notable highlight included the arrival and nesting of over 300 Painted Storks, indicating the ecological value of the zoo's wetland and tree habitats. Experts highlighted the ecological roles of these species as pollinators and ecosystem health indicators. The zoo regularly organizes such walks with limited registration via its website and the 'NZP Sathi' mobile app.
