Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari: From Local Action to Water Security
The Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari (JSJB) initiative, launched on September 6, 2024, focuses on community partnership, low-cost groundwater recharge, and water storage structures to promote water conservation through a whole-of-society and whole-of-government approach. Guided by the 3Cs (Community, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Cost), the initiative has seen substantial progress, including JSJB 1.0, JSJB 2.0, and its June 2026 integration with the Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain campaign (JSJB: CTR), resulting in over 1.58 crore artificial groundwater recharge structures by September 2026. A Ministry of Jal Shakti Departmental Summit held in September 2026 highlighted cooperative federalism, water governance, and grassroots examples from Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha.
