Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh Launches the 5th Edition of ‘Swachh Sagar, Surakshit Sagar 2026’ as a Nationwide People’s Movement for Ocean Conservation

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh launched the 5th edition of ‘Swachh Sagar, Surakshit Sagar 2026’ (SSSS v.5.0), a nationwide people’s movement for ocean conservation spearheaded by the Ministry of Earth Sciences. Scheduled from September 12 to 19, 2026, the week-long campaign aims to promote beach clean-ups across more than 100 locations, foster youth engagement through the first-ever national Ocean Olympiad, cycling rallies, marathons, and the India Coastal Cleanup event. The initiative encourages public participation through the SSSS v.5.0 website, ocean conservation pledges, and the SAGAR PRAHARI mobile application.
