Ministry of Civil Aviation launches Hub & Spoke International Flight Operations from Ahmedabad
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has launched Hub & Spoke International Flight Operations from Ahmedabad, making it the third airport in India integrated into the International Aviation Hub Strategy after Varanasi and Amritsar. The framework allows international passengers to complete check-in, immigration, and customs formalities at the originating spoke airport before flying via a designated domestic hub, eliminating the need to repeat exit procedures at the transit airport. Flight AI 1117 and evening service AI 1121 connect passengers from Ahmedabad to multiple global destinations across Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, North America, East Asia, and Australia. The initiative aims to reduce reliance on overseas transit hubs, leverage India's geographic location, improve regional connectivity, and support economic development.
