Ministry of Education extends deadline for NMMSS 2026-27 scholarship applications to September 30, 2026

The Ministry of Education has extended the deadline for submitting scholarship applications under the National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) for the 2026-27 project year to September 30, 2026. Implemented by the Department of School Education & Literacy, the scheme aims to reduce school dropouts among economically weaker students after Class VIII and support them until Class XII by providing an annual scholarship of Rs. 12,000. Applications are processed through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), requiring a one-time registration (OTR), followed by two levels of verification: Level-1 (INO) by October 15, 2026, and Level-2 (DNO) by October 31, 2026.
