From Financial Struggle to Mechanised Sanitation Entrepreneurship: How NAMASTE–SUY Support Strengthened Kapil Pal’s Livelihood

The Press Information Bureau release details the impact of the Swachhta Udyami Yojana (SUY) component of the NAMASTE Scheme through the case of Kapil Pal, a sanitation worker from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Facing financial struggle, family responsibilities, and medical setbacks, he received financial assistance comprising a loan and an upfront capital subsidy on September 21, 2021, to procure a tractor-cum-suction machine. This mechanised support allowed him to expand his sewer and septic tank sanitation services under Nagar Nigam Ghaziabad, improving his monthly earnings to between ₹35,000 and ₹40,000, ensuring financial independence, and enabling him to independently manage medical expenses and support his children's education.
