Union Minister of Communications Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia announced that the Department of Telecommunications' (DoT) Sanchar Saathi initiative has achieved a record recovery of over 75,000 lost and stolen mobile handsets in a single month across India. The milestone reflects coordination among DoT, telecom service providers, and State/UT police departments. Enhancements to the platform include providing citizens with police station details in traceability reports, sharing SIM-insertion details with police authorities, and advising citizens on factory resets to prevent malware. The system blocks reported lost or stolen handsets on the Indian telecom network, preventing misuse and generating real-time network alerts.
