Appointment of Judge and Additional Judges in the Calcutta High Court

The President of India, exercising powers conferred by the Constitution of India and after consulting the Chief Justice of India, has made appointments regarding judges in the Calcutta High Court. Shri Justice Biswaroop Chowdhury, an Additional Judge, has been appointed as a permanent Judge. Additionally, six other Additional Judges—Shri Justice Prasenjit Biswas, Shri Justice Uday Kumar, Shri Justice Ajay Kumar Gupta, Shri Justice Supratim Bhattacharya, Shri Justice Partha Sarathi Chatterjee, and Shri Justice Md. Shabbar Rashidi—have been appointed for a fresh term of six months effective from 31.08.2026.
