DDWS urges States/UTs to facilitate student participation from local academic institutions under JJM 2.0

The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti, has urged States and Union Territories to facilitate student participation from local colleges, universities, and schools under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0. The initiative aims to strengthen field-based learning, document best practices in rural water supply, and promote innovation. States are encouraged to engage academic institutions to study and publish case studies on areas such as community participation, water quality management, and technology adoption. Additionally, the initiative suggests organizing student tours to water infrastructure sites like Water Treatment Plants and NABL-accredited laboratories, with a target of at least one student tour and one published case study per district by the end of September 2026.
