Less procedural burden, wider global market access for Indian industry: Defence Export SOP and Open General Export Licence framework simplified to make India a trusted global manufacturing & export partner

The Department of Defence Production has implemented reforms to simplify the Defence Export Standard Operating Procedure and the Open General Export Licence framework to reduce procedural burdens and expand global market access. Key changes include dispensing with stakeholder consultations for non-lethal item exports to most destinations and for international tenders and exhibitions. The OGEL framework consolidates three previous SOPs into a single unified SOP, increases its validity from two to three years, expands country coverage to nearly all nations except negative or embargoed ones, introduces provisions for long-term contracts with Foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers, and broadens the range of covered items.
