DRI seizes 76 kg methamphetamine tablets in two operations along North-Eastern frontier

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) conducted two intelligence-led operations along India's North-Eastern frontier in Assam and Mizoram, resulting in the seizure of 76 kg of methamphetamine tablets. Two separate operations—one intercepting a truck near the Assam-Manipur border with the assistance of the Assam Rifles, and another intercepting a car along the Aizawl–Champhai Road in Mizoram—revealed contraband concealed in specially fabricated cavities within the vehicles. Preliminary investigations indicated that drugs in the Mizoram operation were smuggled from Myanmar through the Zokhawthar–Champhai sector. Two individuals were arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, under which methamphetamine is notified as a psychotropic substance.
