Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah addressed the 72nd convocation ceremony of Gujarat Vidyapith in Ahmedabad, where 900 students received their degrees. Emphasizing the continuing relevance of Mahatma Gandhi's message, the Union Home Minister highlighted the institution's historical role as a centre of research for developing the Indian education system. He discussed Gandhian principles such as basic education, Swadeshi, Gram Swaraj, the significance of the mother tongue, and the avoidance of seven social sins. Furthermore, he noted that the turnover of Khadi and Village Industries grew from ₹31,000 crore in 2013–14 to ₹1.87 lakh crore in 2025–26, and drew parallels between Gandhian philosophy and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
