Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah addressed the PharmaInnova Awards Ceremony-2026 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, highlighting India's advancements and future targets in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors. He noted that India has progressed from being counted among the 'Fragile Five' in 2014 to becoming the world's fourth-largest economy. Stressing the pharmaceutical sector as a national strategic asset, the government highlighted initiatives such as the PRIP scheme, Bulk Drug Park and Medical Device Park schemes, and Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes to foster research, innovation, and self-reliance. Furthermore, the government aims to manufacture all medical devices domestically by 2028 and achieve the goal of India becoming a leading global economy by 2047.
