Union Health Minister Reviews Progress of Key Health Sector Projects Announced in Union Budget 2026-27
Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare reviewed the implementation progress of key health sector initiatives announced in the Union Budget 2026-27. The review focused on expanding emergency and trauma care capacity in District Hospitals, targeting the strengthening of 160 hospitals in Phase I by March 2027. Other key projects evaluated include scaling up the allied healthcare professionals ecosystem, training 1.5 lakh multiskilled caregivers aligned with NSQF, advancing Biopharma SHAKTI and clinical trial infrastructure, establishing five Regional Medical Hubs for medical value tourism and integrative treatment, strengthening CDSCO regulatory capacity, and upgrading mental healthcare institutions such as NIMHANS-II, CIP Ranchi, and LGBRIMH Tezpur.
