"Students of Today Are the Torchbearers of Democracy Tomorrow": CEC Gyanesh Kumar
The Election Commission of India organised its third regional conference on Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELC 2.0) and ECINET in Chennai, focusing on strengthening democratic awareness among young citizens. Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar stated that students are the future of democracy and that ELCs help strengthen India's democratic backbone. ELC 2.0 reimagines Electoral Literacy Clubs as structured, digital platforms across educational institutions to encourage first-time voters. The initiative leverages India's large educational ecosystem to promote factual electoral education. Additionally, the CEC interacted with Booth Level Officers in Tamil Nadu, noting the state's high voter turnout and the execution of the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls.
