Concept paper on Methodological Approach for Compilation of Experimental Monetary Asset Accounts of Marine Fish Resources

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has released a concept paper titled "Methodological Approach for Compilation of Experimental Monetary Asset Accounts of Marine Fish Resources." Aligned with the UN System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) Central Framework, the paper extends MoSPI's EnviStats India series by exploring the methodological approach for developing experimental monetary asset accounts for marine fish resources. The publication highlights India's fisheries sector, assesses data availability, outlines an accounting framework drawing on OECD (2025) guidelines, and demonstrates step-by-step compilation using available data while noting gaps. MoSPI has issued the experimental paper as an open invitation for feedback to finalize a standardized methodology.
