NHRC, India takes <i>suo motu</i> cognizance of the reported death of a woman raped during a diagnostic test at Civil Hospital of Panipat, Haryana

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports concerning the death of a 57-year-old woman who was allegedly raped by a machine operator inside the CT scan room during a diagnostic test at the Civil Hospital in Panipat, Haryana. The victim passed away during treatment at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Science in Rohtak. Observing that the incident raises serious human rights violations, the NHRC issued notices to the Haryana Chief Secretary and the Panipat Superintendent of Police, demanding a detailed report within two weeks.
