India highlights its Science-based advances in Snow Leopard Conservation including Population Estimation, Radio Telemetry and Genetic Analysis, at Moscow Roundtable Meeting

India participated in the Russian-Indian Roundtable Meeting on Snow Leopard Study and Conservation held in Moscow, Russia, on August 26, 2026. Organized under a Partnership Agreement signed in December 2025 between the Interregional Association 'Irbis' and the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA), the meeting aimed to foster international cooperation in snow leopard research and conservation. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and Wildlife Institute of India (WII) delegation highlighted India's science-based conservation initiatives, including population estimation, radio telemetry, and genetic analysis. The platform enabled knowledge exchange and discussions on collaborative approaches for species monitoring and conservation among Indian and Russian authorities and experts.
