Central Government in close watch on the situation arising out of the flash flood in Nepal

The Central Government is monitoring the situation arising from a flash flood in Nepal, which resulted from a sudden rise in the Trishuli river water level due to suspected flash flood or GLOF activity near the Nepal-China border. The Union Home Minister spoke with the Chief Ministers of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh regarding the disaster. Local administration, rescue teams, and the NDRF have been placed on high alert in vulnerable border areas, and Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have taken evacuation and support measures. Officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Jal Shakti, and Ministry of Defence are continuously monitoring the situation, with the Central Water Commission reporting that reservoir water levels on the Nepal side are decreasing. Additionally, the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has issued emergency helpline numbers for missing Indian tourists.
