Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal Highlights India’s Growing Startup Ecosystem at India–Japan Startup Roundtable in Tokyo

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal addressed the India–Japan Startup Roundtable in Tokyo, highlighting India's position as the world's third-largest startup ecosystem with nearly 250,000 startups over the past decade. The event brought together senior government representatives, investors, industry leaders, and startups to reinforce cooperation in startups, deep-tech, innovation, and MSMEs. Shri Goyal proposed a four-pillar framework for future cooperation: a Japan–India Deep-Tech Capital Corridor, a Two-Way Innovation Bridge, Manufacturing and Technology Integration, and Joint Startup Pitching Platforms. He also noted India's proposed second Fund of Funds of approximately US$1 billion aimed at deep-tech enterprises. Japanese stakeholders, including representatives from JICA, JETRO, and various corporations, discussed investment opportunities in sectors such as AI, semiconductors, healthcare, space, and advanced manufacturing.
