India and Seychelles Convene High-Level Bilateral Meeting to Strengthen Strategic Cooperation in Fisheries, Aquaculture, and the Blue Economy

India and Seychelles held a high-level bilateral meeting on August 25, 2026, to strengthen strategic cooperation in fisheries, aquaculture, and the blue economy. Led by India's Department of Fisheries and Seychelles' Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Blue Economy, the discussions focused on sustainable marine resource utilization, technical cooperation, scientific research, and capacity-building in the Indian Ocean Region. The Indian delegation highlighted national fish production reaching 19.7 million tonnes and seafood exports worth USD 8.46 billion. Both sides explored areas for joint development including mariculture, tuna fisheries, digital transformation, monitoring and surveillance infrastructure, and potential collaboration through a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding.
