Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh Emphasises deeper Integration of Traditional Knowledge with Modern Science and Medicine

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the deeper integration of traditional knowledge with modern science, medicine, and emerging technologies during a visit to the CSIR-Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (CSIR-TKDL). He highlighted that traditional knowledge should expand beyond conventional systems of medicine and Ayurveda to connect with broader scientific disciplines and institutions. The Minister called for stronger collaborations with academic and medical institutions, including postgraduate student co-guidance, to foster evidence-based research. Established in 2001, the TKDL initiative has evolved from digitizing Ayurveda formulations into a structured knowledge resource available to patent offices globally in multiple languages, playing a key role in preventing the wrongful grant of patents on documented traditional knowledge.
