ICAR-CCARI’s ‘Carbon Pathshala’ helps Goa farmers explore carbon market opportunities
The ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI), in collaboration with Core CarbonX Solutions Pvt. Ltd., organized a one-day workshop titled 'Carbon Pathshala: Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) for Farmers' at ICAR-KVK, Old Goa. Held under the project on plantation-based systems and biochar production, the initiative familiarized farmers with carbon markets, carbon sequestration, and generating carbon credits. The workshop featured discussions on utilizing farm and plantation residues for biochar to improve soil health, a live demonstration of portable biochar production units, and explanations of the agricultural carbon project cycle. Around 100 farmers, with a focus on women and smallholders, participated to explore additional income sources and environmental sustainability.
