All India: Progressive Crop Area Sown Report - Kharif Weekly area coverage as on 2026-08-21

The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare released the progressive crop area sown report for the Kharif season as of August 21, 2026. The total all-India area sown reached 1056.70 lakh hectares, compared to 1072.77 lakh hectares during the corresponding period of the previous year. Decreases in area coverage were reported for crops such as rice (405.10 lakh ha), Shree Anna and coarse cereals (176.36 lakh ha), total oilseeds (188.37 lakh ha), sugarcane (58.44 lakh ha), and cotton (108.45 lakh ha). Conversely, increases in area coverage were noted for total pulses (113.63 lakh ha) and total jute and mesta (6.34 lakh ha). State-wise variations and trends are detailed for individual crops.
