From Financial Dependence to Self-Employment: Suji K.P.’s Journey of Empowerment

The release details the self-employment journey of Suji K.P. from Wayanad district, Kerala, who utilized financial assistance under the NBCFDC Self-Employment Scheme to overcome economic barriers and establish a tailoring unit. Belonging to the OBC Hindu Thiyya community, she previously faced loan rejections from conventional banks due to a lack of personal earnings and limited family resources. After learning about the scheme through an awareness programme organized by the Kerala State Backward Classes Development Corporation (KSBCDC), she received a loan of ₹3,00,000 in 2023. This credit enabled her to start her business, later diversify into photocopy and lamination services, achieve an independent monthly income of approximately ₹15,000, and improve her family's financial security.
