From Unpaid Helper to Sanitation Entrepreneur: How NAMASTE-SUY Support Transformed Kapil’s Life

The Press Information Bureau release highlights the impact of the NAMASTE-Swachhta Udyami Yojana (SUY) Initiative through the case of Kapil, a 25-year-old sanitation worker from Ghaziabad District, Uttar Pradesh. Belonging to the Scheduled Caste community, Kapil transitioned from an unpaid helper working with his father to an independent sanitation entrepreneur. Under the scheme, he received financial assistance comprising a loan and a capital subsidy to purchase a tractor fitted with a suction machine. This mechanised support enabled him to undertake sewer and septic tank cleaning safely and efficiently, resulting in a stable monthly income and improved economic security.
