President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu to Confer National Awards to Teachers on 21 teachers/faculties of HEIs and Polytechnics on Teachers Day 2026

The President of India will confer the National Awards to Teachers (NAT) 2026 on 21 faculty members from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and polytechnics at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on September 5, 2026. The selected awardees comprise 12 from central HEIs, five from state universities (including three government and two private colleges), and four from polytechnics (two government and two private). Nominations were collected via the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal. The awards recognize teaching-learning effectiveness, outreach activities, research and innovation, and sponsored research or faculty development programmes. The ambit of these awards was expanded in 2023 to include HEIs and polytechnics, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
