Government Strengthens Scholarship Delivery through Direct Benefit Transfer for SC and OBC Students

The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment has strengthened educational support for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Other Backward Class (OBC) students through Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship Schemes utilizing Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). During 2025–26, ₹30.81 crore was released under these schemes in East Godavari district, encompassing disbursements for SC and OBC students at both pre-matric and post-matric levels. The DBT mechanism transfers assistance directly into Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts. Applications are invited through online portals operated by States and Union Territories, with Central share releases dependent on State/UT share disbursal and verified beneficiary data on the National Scholarship Portal. Implementation is monitored through Chintan Shivirs, regional meetings, and national conferences.
