Sarbananda Sonowal Inaugurates ₹427.80 Crore Projects at Paradip Port, Marks 18.5-Metre Deep-Draft Capability

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways inaugurated seven infrastructure projects worth ₹427.80 crore at Paradip Port Authority in Odisha, achieving 18.5-metre deep-draft capability to handle fully laden Capesize vessels. Concession agreements worth ₹1,580.36 crore were signed for three berth mechanisation projects targeting 100% mechanisation by 2030. The projects encompass capital dredging, the Atharbanki bridge, sports infrastructure, administrative upgrades, piped natural gas supply, and an advanced Vessel Traffic Management and Information System developed with IIT Madras. Additionally, the port marked its one-millionth tree plantation milestone and highlighted Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives focused on youth skill development and sustainable fishing practices.
