From Financial Constraints to Agricultural Research: How the National Fellowship Scheme Supported Shri Badde Prasanna Kumar’s PhD Journey

This note highlights the role of the National Fellowship Scheme for Scheduled Caste Students in supporting the PhD journey of Shri Badde Prasanna Kumar in Agriculture Microbiology. Coming from a financially constrained background, Prasanna Kumar faced multiple challenges, including research uncertainties, experimental failures, and the management of academic expenses. Starting in 2017, he received financial assistance of ₹35,000 per month under the fellowship scheme, which helped him overcome economic barriers, maintain stability, and focus on his scientific research without major financial stress. The assistance enabled him to successfully complete his doctorate and work as a Research Associate in agricultural sciences.
