Cabinet approves four multitracking projects covering eight Districts in West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, increasing the existing network of Indian Railways by about 410 Kms

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved four multi-tracking railway projects covering eight districts in West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh, with an estimated cost of Rs. 9,450 crore to be completed by 2030-31. The projects include the Kharagpur–Bhadrak 4th Line, Bhadrak–Haridaspur 4th Line, Gummidipundi–Gudur 3rd and 4th Line, and Cuttack–Paradeep 3rd and 4th Line, expanding the Indian Railways network by about 410 km. Planned under the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan, the initiative aims to enhance logistics efficiency, reduce congestion, improve freight and passenger connectivity, and lower CO2 emissions and oil imports.
