ECMS Accelerates Electronics Manufacturing: 38 Plants Operational, 16 in Advanced Construction Stages

The Ministry of Electronics & IT announced that, under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), 38 plants are already manufacturing and 16 projects are at advanced construction or machinery‑installation stages. A total of 106 projects have been approved, attracting ₹69,548 crore of investment across 15 states and are expected to generate 74,628 direct jobs (plus 2.5 lakh indirect jobs). The scheme has enabled first‑ever domestic production of critical components such as filters, coils, speakers and raw materials like acetylene black and electrolyte additives, with output already exceeding domestic demand in areas such as anode material, optical transceivers and relays. These approvals aim to deepen the ‘Swadeshi’ electronics value chain and reduce import dependence.
