Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman chairs 3rd Meeting of Apex Monitoring Authority of NICDIT and reviews the progress of projects under NICDP

The Union Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, chaired the 3rd Apex Monitoring Authority meeting of the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) on 17 August 2026. The meeting reviewed progress of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP), which now covers 20 approved projects across 13 states and 7 corridors, with four smart‑city projects in production. About 469 plots (≈5,348 acres) have been allotted, representing an estimated investment potential of ₹2.21 lakh crore and employment potential of 1.29 lakh jobs. The Minister urged faster completion of infrastructure, land allotment, and SPV empowerment, linking corridor development to the PM GatiShakti framework and the BHAVYA scheme for plug‑and‑play industrial parks.
