DFS Hosts PSB Confluence 2026: Day 1 Deliberations focus on Four themes- Deposit Mobilisation, Banking for Youth, Supporting the Investment Cycle and Global Capability Centres
The Department of Financial Services (DFS) organised the first day of the PSB Confluence 2026, bringing senior leaders of public sector banks (PSBs), public financial institutions (PFIs), government officials and experts together to discuss emerging opportunities for the banking sector. Four themes were deliberated: Deposit Mobilisation, Banking for Youth, Supporting the Investment Cycle and Global Capability Centres (GCCs). Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted the low level of non‑performing assets as a strength and stressed the need to align banking with the aspirations of India’s youth (29% of the population aged 15‑29). The discussions aimed to generate concrete strategies for deposit growth, youth‑focused banking products, investment‑cycle financing and leveraging the GCC ecosystem, with inputs slated for a forthcoming High‑Powered Committee on Banking Reforms for Viksit Bharat.
