A. Introduction

The Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) July 2026 bulletin shows a rise in overall Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) to 55.4% (up 1.0 pp from June) and in Rural LFPR to 58.0% (up 1.4 pp). Female LFPR increased to 34.4% (up 1.7 pp). Worker Population Ratio (WPR) rose to 52.5% overall (first increase since Feb 2026) and Rural WPR to 55.4% (up 1.6 pp). Unemployment Rate (UR) fell to 5.1% overall (down from 5.5% in June) and Rural UR to 4.5%. The bulletin is based on a sample of 3,71,021 persons (2,11,411 rural, 1,59,610 urban).
