LOKAYAN 2026 – INDIAN NAVAL SHIP SUDARSHINI CONCLUDES PORT CALL AT PONTA DELGADA

The Indian Navy’s sail training ship INS Sudarshini completed a port call at Ponta Delgada, Azores on 16 August 2026 as part of Lokayan 2026. The visit included professional and cultural engagements with the Portuguese Navy, a deck reception on the Portuguese vessel NRP Sagres, and a reciprocal reception on INS Sudarshini for local officials, diplomats and the Indian diaspora. The ship marked India’s 80th Independence Day on 15 August with a Colours ceremony. INS Sudarshini then departed for Lisbon, and on 21 August a joint Passing Exercise (PASSEX) with NRP Sagres is scheduled to enhance interoperability.
