Ministry of Culture Observed Partition Horrors Remembrance Day Across Delhi, Amritsar and Kolkata
The Ministry of Culture observed Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on 14 August 2026 with programmes in Delhi, Amritsar and Kolkata. Events included solemn ceremonies, exhibitions of archival material, screenings of documentaries, theatrical performances, poetry releases and silent marches, all aimed at preserving the memories of those displaced by Partition and reinforcing values of unity, social harmony and human dignity. The observances involved senior officials such as the Union Minister of Culture, the Governor of West Bengal and senior Delhi officials, and engaged large numbers of school and university students. Parallel activities were organised by IGNCA’s regional centres across the country, featuring panel discussions, student processions, exhibitions and cultural gatherings to document and disseminate Partition experiences.
