From 25 crore to 100 crore in a decade: Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlights India's record social security expansion

In his Independence Day address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India’s social security coverage rose from 25 crore people before 2014 to 100 crore within a decade. He linked this expansion to schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, which provides free treatment up to ₹5 lakh for persons above 70 years. The Prime Minister also highlighted that the Startup India programme has registered more than 2.5 lakh startups, and cited the ₹1 lakh crore Innovation Fund, Skill India, Digital India, the opening of space and aviation sectors, the National Drone Policy and airport expansion as drivers of new employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
